According to a TechCrunch report, AI lab Anthropic is expected to go public this year at a valuation of up to $2 trillion, creating significant paper wealth for its early and later-stage investors. Based on the company's latest private market valuation of $965 billion, several major backers hold stakes worth billions, as cited from Bloomberg:

Coatue has invested a total of $4.75 billion into Anthropic, and its stake is now worth roughly $7.5 billion. Iconiq wrote a $6 billion check last year when the company was valued at $183 billion; that position is now worth $17 billion. Menlo Ventures, which led Series D, has invested more than $1 billion over time, with a current stake value of $14 billion. Sequoia Capital invested $3 billion earlier this year at a $380 billion valuation, meaning it has already more than doubled its money. Spark Capital invested $75 million in the 2023 Series C round when the company was valued at $5 billion; that position has ballooned more than ninetyfold to $7 billion.

These figures represent unrealized gains based on last known round prices, not cash returns. Anthropic has not publicly confirmed specific shareholder lists or exact ownership percentages; the data relies on persons familiar with the matter and third-party databases like PitchBook.
