The Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan announced on October 20, 2026, that September export orders totaled $114.21 billion, setting a new single-month record and marking a 62.4% year-on-year increase. This extends the streak of positive growth to 20 consecutive months. Cumulative export orders for the first nine months of the year reached $819.2 billion, also a record high for the same period, up 56% year-on-year.
By product category, the AI wave continued to drive opportunities in emerging technology applications. Information and communications technology (ICT) products and electronic components saw significant order growth, with year-on-year increases of 87.3% and 71%, respectively. In contrast, optical equipment orders declined by 5.6% year-on-year, as panel demand remained conservative and customer inventory buildup slowed, although AI-related orders for optical inspection and measurement devices partially offset the decline.
