Swedish AI coding platform Lovable opened its first London office on October 29, 2026, with 70 employees and aims to grow the team to 100 by year-end. This marks the company's second engineering, product, and design hub after Stockholm.

Founder Anton Osika stated that this expansion is part of his deliberate decision not to move to Silicon Valley, despite investor suggestions. He cited London's brilliant talent, ideas, and culture as key reasons, noting in a LinkedIn post that they brought in Nad Chishtie to lead design from there early on.

The move comes amid intense competition for AI talent in London. Cursor has announced plans to grow to around 200 employees across EMEA by year-end; OpenAI has leased 88,500 sq ft in King’s Cross; and Anthropic is expanding to accommodate around 800 employees. To hit the 100-employee target by December 31, Lovable needs to recruit over 3 people per week.

Lovable has previously strengthened its capabilities through acquisitions of Radish AI, Molnett, and the Nalvin team. The company raised $400 million at a $13.3 billion valuation in August 2026, led by Menlo Ventures and EQT’s Scaleup Europe Fund.
