South Korean fintech company Webkeis announced it has joined a consortium led by LG AI Research to participate in the "Independent AI Foundation Model" project supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). The project aims to secure technical competitiveness for domestic AI models and expand their application across industries.

Webkeis plans to integrate its data connection solution "OPERIA" with LG's self-developed AI model "K-EXAONE" to specifically develop AI agents for enterprise fund management and financial institution Management Information Systems (MIS). OPERIA converts natural language queries into SQL statements to extract database information and supports various Large Language Models (LLMs), enabling financial institutions to securely utilize internal data.

Through this collaboration, Webkeis seeks to establish use cases for AI applications in specific financial business scenarios and further expand its existing product lines targeting financial institutions, public agencies, and general enterprises, including fund management agents, agentic banking services, and AI MIS.
