OpenAI says FBI arrested employee over hidden office recording device
OpenAI confirms it found a hidden audio recorder in its offices and the FBI has arrested an employee.

OpenAI confirmed on October 13 via its official newsroom that its security team discovered a sophisticated hidden recording device inside one of its offices.
The company stated it used its own AI models to analyze the device and identify its origin, determining that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. OpenAI referred the matter to the FBI, resulting in the employee's arrest and termination.
OpenAI noted there are currently no indications that the individual improperly accessed or exfiltrated model weights, source code, or customer data. The FBI investigation is ongoing.
