OpenAI Expands ChatGPT Ads to 26 New Countries, Reaching 89 Markets Globally
OpenAI has expanded its ChatGPT advertising platform to 26 new countries, bringing total coverage to 89 markets. Over 100,000 advertisers have used the platform since its launch eight months ago. The move aims to support free and low-cost AI access through ad revenue while offering brands a new channel for user discovery.
U.S.-based artificial intelligence company OpenAI announced on October 21, 2026, that it is expanding its ChatGPT advertising platform to 26 new countries, bringing the total number of available markets worldwide to 89. The expansion includes 14 Latin American countries such as Argentina and Chile, as well as markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia including Nigeria, South Africa, Ukraine, and Pakistan.
In its official announcement, OpenAI stated that more than 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns on ChatGPT since the service launched just over eight months ago. Ads will appear only on Free and Go subscription plans, while Plus, Pro, and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free. This strategy is designed to support free and low-cost access to AI globally through advertising revenue.
For investors and industry observers, this marks a further scaling of OpenAI's consumer-side monetization path. With 1.2 billion weekly active users, ChatGPT's conversational interface is viewed as a high-intent commercial discovery scenario. Asmita Dubey, Chief Digital Marketing Officer at L'Oréal Group, noted in a statement that early testing helps build connections during the consumer exploration phase.
