US chipmaker Nvidia released Nemotron 3.5 Transcribe on October 28, 2026, a free, open-weight speech-to-text model with 30 billion parameters. The model supports audio transcription in up to 40 languages and is claimed to run on a single chip, including the Jetson AGX Thor robotics controller, DGX Spark laptop chips, and Blackwell datacenter GPUs.

Alongside the model, Nvidia released version 2 of Granary, its open-source speech dataset. According to TechCrunch, Nemotron 3.5 can handle recordings up to an hour long, distinguish between up to eight speakers, and translate 31 languages to and from English. Nvidia claims it beats rivals on benchmarks such as Hugging Face’s Open ASR Leaderboard.

The tool targets developers building applications for business meetings and medical transcription. However, a significant limitation is that Transcribe works only with recorded audio, not livestreams. This means developers requiring immediate interaction capabilities must still rely on competitors offering real-time features, such as ElevenLabs or Mistral’s latest releases.
