NVIDIA Releases CUDA Oxide 0.3 with Stable Rust Support and Experimental cute-rs
NVIDIA updated its Rust-to-CUDA compiler to version 0.3, eliminating the need for Rust nightly builds and introducing cute-rs for running Qwen3 models on Blackwell GPUs.
NVIDIA software engineers have released CUDA Oxide 0.3, the latest version of their experimental Rust-to-CUDA compiler. A key change in this update is that cuda-oxide now uses the official stable Rust version (currently Rust 1.99.1), whereas previous versions required developers to rely on Rust nightly builds. This shift significantly lowers the toolchain barrier and stability risk for using Rust in CUDA programming.
The new release also unifies the host runtime with cutile-rs within the cuda-rust monorepo. Another major advancement is the shipping of an experimental component called "cute-rs," which is the Rust implementation of CUTLASS CuTe. With cute-rs, developers can now run end-to-end Qwen3-8B (in BF16 + NVFP4 precision) and Qwen3-TTS models on NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs.
Regarding the debugging experience, v0.3 provides full cuda-gdb DWARF debugging support, along with in-kernel event tracing, register diagnostics, and spill diagnostics. The release also includes performance and compiler optimizations specifically for Blackwell and Hopper GPUs.
