Chinese AI startup Moonshot AI released its new large language model, Kimi K3.1 Pro, on October 24. Based on the previously launched Kimi K3, the new model underwent post-training with more computational resources to enhance agent capabilities in coding, 3D production, and financial research.

According to benchmarks published by Moonshot AI, Kimi K3.1 Pro scored 65.7% on Terminal-Bench 4.0, which evaluates terminal-based coding agents. This score surpassed GPT-6 Astra (58.2%) but fell slightly short of Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 (66.4%). In BenchCAD, a test for reconstructing 3D shapes from multi-view renderings, the model achieved 92.7% accuracy when using tools, trailing behind Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra.

Beyond coding, Kimi K3.1 Pro strengthens spatial reasoning and 3D content generation. It can collaborate with game engines like Unity, Unreal Engine, and Godot to create interactive Three.js scenes and 3D assets. Moonshot AI also launched a new feature called "3D Make," allowing users to create and edit 3D models via the Kimi web version or app, with options to export files for 3D printing.

Regarding safety, Moonshot AI stated that it removed cyber-related data from the training set in preparation for open-weight release. In their internal xdev-bench-hard test, Kimi K3.1 Pro's offensive cyber capability score was 81%, lower than the unfiltered version (90.5%). The company said its policy is not to push the frontier of offensive cyber capabilities in open-weight models.

Kimi K3.1 Pro is now available through the Kimi chat service, desktop app Kimi Work, coding tool Kimi Code, and API. Moonshot AI plans to release the model weights by November 4.
