Google DeepMind Launches Genie 4 World Model with Native Audio and Real-Time Steering

Google DeepMind introduces Genie 4, featuring synchronized audio generation, real-time scene control via natural language, and extended simulation durations.

Google DeepMind, the AI division of US tech giant Google, announced on October 27, 2026, the launch of its latest world model, Genie 4. Designed to generate interactive AI simulations, the new model marks a significant step forward in realism, multimodal output, and real-time control compared to its predecessors.

Genie 4 introduces four key capabilities: first, it features native audio generation, capable of simultaneously creating ambient sounds, music, and interactive dialogue between characters; second, users can modify the simulation in real time using natural language prompts, such as changing the weather, moving the camera, or introducing new objects; third, built on underlying models like Gemini Omni, it offers more realistic physics (including aerodynamics and collisions) and human movement; finally, the duration of a single generated simulation experience has been extended to approximately two minutes, up from one minute in the previous Genie 3 model.

Google positions Genie 4 as a tool useful for pre-visualization in filmmaking, prototyping game ideas, and developing training scenarios for robots. However, the company acknowledges current limitations, noting that as simulations run longer, details and object permanence can shift over time.

Currently, Genie 4 is available only as a 'research preview' to trusted testers. Google states that the model will soon be rolled out to Google AI Ultra subscribers, and a waitlist has been opened for users to apply for access within Project Genie.
