Google announced on October 27, 2026, the launch of its next-generation world model, Genie 4, designed to generate interactive experiences using AI. According to The Verge, Google states that Genie 4 features four main updates: more realistic worlds, the ability for users to update an experience in real time with a natural language prompt, audio generation capabilities, and the use of Gemini 3.8 Flash under the hood to assist with simulations. Additionally, the generated experiences can now last about two minutes, up from one minute for the previous Genie 3 model.

Google pitches Genie 4 as a tool potentially helpful for things like pre-visualization for filmmakers, prototyping game ideas, and making training scenarios for robots. However, the company warns that as simulations run longer, details and object permanence can shift over time. Currently, Genie 4 is launching first as a “research preview” to “trusted testers” and is not yet available to the general public.

For ordinary readers, this update marks a significant step forward in the duration and control precision of AI-generated interactive environments, particularly with the addition of audio making virtual worlds more immersive. However, since it remains in a preview stage with noted stability limitations, its actual commercial application effectiveness is yet to be verified.
