Fox Corporation Completes $22 Billion Acquisition of Roku
US-based Fox Corporation has officially completed its $22 billion acquisition of Roku, gaining control of a streaming platform reaching over 100 million US households.
Fox Corporation has officially closed its $22 billion acquisition of streaming hardware and software platform Roku, the companies announced on Friday. With the deal complete, Fox now controls a major streaming platform that reaches more than 100 million households in the United States.
First announced in June 2026, the deal allows Fox to integrate its sports, news, and local station content with Roku's ecosystem. Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch stated at the time that he expected to grow viewership by combining Roku's technology and platform with The Roku Channel's content and Fox's own offerings. Fox also operates its own Fox One streaming service and the free streamer Tubi.
While the deal changes what Roku showcases on its platform, it does not appear to affect the open nature of its streaming ecosystem. Roku founder Anthony Wood said the company's mission remains unchanged but its reach and resources have expanded. Wood noted that Fox respects Roku's culture and shares its commitment to staying open to every content partner. Wood now serves on Fox's board of directors.
