DoorDash CEO says third-party AI agents generated only 'several hundred' orders

DoorDash disclosed in its Q3 earnings call that third-party AI agents contributed only several hundred orders, a negligible fraction of its 3 million daily deliveries.

DoorDash CEO Tony Xu revealed during the company's third-quarter earnings call that it has received only "several hundred" orders from third-party AI agents such as Muse, Instinct, and Fo. This stands in stark contrast to the company's reported average of 3 million daily deliveries in its 2025 report.

Xu noted that users are still predominantly placing orders through the DoorDash app. However, the company aims to learn more about agentic use cases and develop healthy relationships with third-party agent developers, mentioning potential future opportunities for advertising within these agents.

While DoorDash has launched its own internal AI tools, including a text-to-order agent and a chatbot, the actual commercial impact of external AI agents remains minimal at this stage.
