DJI Launches Matrice 5T: Industrial Drone Integrating LiDAR, Millimeter-Wave Radar and AI Vision
DJI releases its flagship industrial drone Matrice 5T, featuring the first integration of LiDAR, millimeter-wave radar and AI vision for all-weather obstacle detection and automated inspection.
Chinese drone manufacturer DJI launched its latest flagship industrial drone, the Matrice 5T, on November 5, 2026. The model marks the first time DJI has integrated LiDAR, millimeter-wave radar, and omnidirectional vision sensing into a compact enterprise-grade platform, aiming to address safety and efficiency challenges during night flights and adverse weather conditions.
In terms of perception, the Matrice 5T's LiDAR can detect thin obstacles like power lines up to 32 meters away at night. The millimeter-wave radar provides situational awareness in environments with fog, rain, or dust that limit visibility. Combined with an omnidirectional low-light vision system, the drone maintains positioning even in extremely dark conditions down to 0.5 lux.
The imaging system also sees significant upgrades. The standard infrared thermal camera resolution improves to native 1K (1280x1024), quadrupling the pixel count compared to traditional 640x512 sensors; enabling ultra-high-resolution mode boosts this to 2560x2048. The wide-angle camera uses a 1/0.98-inch sensor and, combined with AI low-light enhancement, supports ISO sensitivity up to 1.6 million, allowing color video capture in 0.01 lux environments. Additionally, it features a 50-megapixel medium-zoom camera and a telephoto camera with 11x optical zoom.
Built-in AI models analyze thermal and visible light imagery in parallel to automatically identify over 20 types of targets, including vehicles and vessels. Through DJI Pilot 2 plugins, operators can search for targets using text or image prompts and set custom inspection routes involving actions like hovering, photography, and recording.
Regarding flight performance, the Matrice 5T offers a maximum flight time of 59 minutes, operates in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C, and carries an IP55 protection rating. Video transmission range expands from the previous generation's 25 kilometers to 40 kilometers, with relay support for complex terrain.
