Datasette Apps Releases 0.3a0, Enhancing LLM Agent Query Permissions

Datasette Apps 0.3a0 adds features for tagging apps in chat and managing stored query permissions via new agent tools, requiring user approval for writes.

Datasette Apps, an extension for the open-source data tool Datasette, has released version 0.3a0, focusing on improved integration with its LLM agent, Datasette Agent. The update allows users to tag and autocomplete apps in chat messages by typing "#", based on their viewing permissions.

New tools, app_add_stored_queries() and app_remove_stored_queries(), enable the AI agent to manage which stored queries an app is allowed to call. For security, granting any write query permission now requires explicit user approval first. Additionally, app_create() verifies that requested stored queries exist and are viewable by the user, asking for approval on any write queries before creating the app. Interface updates include opening apps full-screen in the Datasette Agent panel when clicking "View app" buttons or references.
