Danish startup Cortas has announced the completion of a pre-seed funding round of approximately €1.47 million. The round was led by PSV Tech, with participation from JRNY Capital, EIFO (Denmark's state-owned export and investment fund), and several tech founders.

Founded by Christian Pind Schmidt and Frederik Buchardt, who previously worked in property investment at Thylander Group, a major Danish real estate investor, Cortas plans to build its own property management software and use it to manage buildings directly for clients. The service covers day-to-day tasks ranging from tenant enquiries and move-ins/move-outs to bookkeeping and financial management.

Although describing itself as "AI-native," co-founder and CEO Christian Pind Schmidt stated that they do not view using AI as a strategy in itself, but rather as a technology allowing them to rethink the entire property management business model from the ground up. Co-founder Frederik Buchardt added that the company starts by asking how to provide the best possible property management service, rather than where to implement AI.

The new funds will be used to improve technology, grow the team, and position Cortas as an alternative to established property managers. Valuation details were not disclosed.
