Cisco Launches AI Transit to Connect Specialized AI Environments to Existing SD-WAN Fabric

Cisco has introduced AI Transit, a new capability designed to integrate NeoClouds and private AI factories into enterprise SD-WAN networks, unifying security policies across distributed AI infrastructure.

US networking giant Cisco announced on November 2, 2026, the launch of "AI Transit," a new feature aimed at addressing the connectivity challenges posed by increasingly distributed AI workloads. The product enables enterprises to bring workloads running in NeoClouds (specialized GPU capacity providers), private sovereign clouds, and enterprise AI factories directly onto their existing SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) fabric.

As AI computing spreads beyond hyperscalers to edge, local, and specialized infrastructure, enterprises face the risk of network fragmentation. Cisco notes that while traditional SD-WAN abstraction effectively connected branches, data centers, and public clouds, the distribution of AI requires this abstraction to extend further. Deployed as physical or virtual appliances, AI Transit allows companies to apply consistent routing, segmentation, and security policies to AI traffic without rebuilding separate network and security domains.

Cisco stated it is working with AI infrastructure providers including Armada, Cirrascale, and Latitude to implement this model. For organizations requiring data sovereignty and geographic traffic controls, AI Transit offers policy-driven path selection, ensuring that where an AI workload runs no longer forces a change in the enterprise's overall network operating model.
