Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has replaced the US government as the largest single customer of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX), according to a report by Bloomberg cited by German tech outlet heise online. This conclusion is based on the confirmation of "Customer B" in SpaceX's latest financial statements, who accounts for approximately one-third of the company's revenue.
Previously, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was SpaceX's primary source of income. With xAI merging into SpaceX and a multi-billion dollar partnership established, Anthropic secured substantial AI computing capacity leases, driving a structural shift in SpaceX's business focus from traditional space launches to AI infrastructure services.
