Anthropic Launches Claude Duet: An AI Agent That Proactively Executes Background Tasks
Anthropic releases Claude Duet, supporting proactive cross-app reminders and background task execution, initially waitlisted for US Pro/Max users.
On October 21, Anthropic announced the launch of a new application called Claude Duet, positioned as an AI agent capable of working proactively. The app can organize important matters across applications daily, proactively remind users of issues requiring attention, and continue to complete delegated tasks in the background after the user leaves.
Claude Duet can call over 6,000 connectors and plugins in the Claude Marketplace, covering common office and business services such as Gmail, Slack, QuickBooks, Stripe, LinkedIn, Canva, Shopify, and DocuSign. It can also complete online payments confirmed by the user via Link or Shop Pay, using virtual cards to avoid leaking real card numbers.
In terms of security design, Anthropic stated that Claude Duet does not directly access user passwords or login tokens; user approval is required before sending messages, making payments, signing documents, or deleting content. The system is also equipped with specialized classifiers to intercept leakage requests for highly sensitive information such as credit card numbers and government ID documents.
Claude Duet is built on Claude Opus 5.5 and offers standalone iOS and Android apps as well as a claude.ai web version. It is currently available as a research preview, with a waitlist open first to US Pro and Max subscription users; during the preview phase, it shares plan usage limits with other Claude features.
