At the Invest in Germany Summit hosted by the German Federal Government in Berlin, Amazon recently announced plans to invest over €16 billion (approx. $18 billion) in Germany in 2027. The investment targets cloud computing, AI infrastructure, satellite networks, logistics, and Prime Video content production.
Specifically, Amazon intends to allocate €4.8 billion to expand the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Europe (Frankfurt) region to meet growing demand for cloud and AI services. Additionally, the company is opening a second robotics and AI research laboratory in Berlin, doubling its research presence in the city.
Since 2010, Amazon's cumulative investment in Germany has exceeded €100 billion, supporting over 40,000 permanent jobs. This new initiative follows the launch of the AWS European Sovereign Cloud in January 2026 and continues the €10 billion infrastructure plan announced in June 2024.
