Berlin-based AI freight document automation startup Conlio has announced a €6.4 million funding round led by London-based venture firm Piton Capital, with participation from WaVe-X (the venture arm of Austria’s Walter Group), F-LOG (Fiege Group), and Haufe Group Ventures. The capital will be directed toward technology development, expanding the sales team, and driving regional market growth.

Founded in 2024 by Claudio Consul, former Senior Vice President of Product at digital freight forwarder Sennder, Conlio addresses the pain points of verifying diverse, often handwritten freight documents like CMRs (standard international road consignment notes). By leveraging large language models, the platform automatically extracts and cross-checks document data against transport orders. Consul states that the system can automate over 90% of freight document checks, reducing manual errors and overpayments while accelerating invoicing to improve cash flow for forwarders.

Although Conlio claims its platform can increase a forwarder’s EBIT by up to 30%, these figures are self-reported and have not been independently verified. The company’s valuation and specific hiring plans remain undisclosed.
