Agentic AI Foundation Adds Four Open-Source Projects Donated by Major Labs
The Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) has added four new projects from OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, and Alibaba, bringing its total to ten.
The Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), a consortium maintaining open-source artificial intelligence tools, announced on October 22, 2026, that it has taken four new projects under its management. These technologies were donated by OpenAI Group PBC, Anthropic PBC, Hugging Face Inc., and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., increasing the number of projects maintained by AAIF from three at its launch in December 2025 to ten.
The newly added projects include Open Responses, Agent Skills, OpenEnv, and OpenSandbox. Open Responses, donated by OpenAI, provides a standardized template for implementing AI model APIs, allowing developers to move code between providers without major changes. Agent Skills, donated by Anthropic, offers a standardized format for resources that improve AI agent output quality, such as instructions and scripts, facilitating sharing across teams and reducing hallucination risks.
OpenEnv and OpenSandbox, donated by Hugging Face and Alibaba respectively, focus on managing AI training sandboxes. OpenEnv reduces the effort involved in switching training systems, while OpenSandbox provides APIs for managing sandboxes and connecting agents to external applications. This move signals that major AI labs are pushing for unified agentic infrastructure standards through a neutral body, aiming to lower fragmentation costs for developers.
