Canadian energy company EverWind announced on October 16 local time a combined investment plan exceeding CAD 10 billion in Nova Scotia, with over CAD 8 billion allocated to building a data center park. EverWind stated that it has reached a long-term lease agreement with a leading frontier artificial intelligence developer for the first phase of the Point Tupper campus.
According to Reuters, the anonymous company is Anthropic, and this marks Anthropic's first data center agreement in Canada. The park is expected to begin operations in 2027 with an initial capacity of 95MW, followed by 325MW coming online in 2028, reaching a total capacity of 420MW. This move indicates that top AI labs are beginning to diversify their compute supply from the US mainland to neighboring countries to address growing power bottlenecks.
