The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education held a training session on October 17 at Songdo Convensia for approximately 180 middle and high school teachers. The workshop focused on enhancing teachers' expertise in grading essay and short-answer questions and ensuring consistent application of scoring criteria.
Participants from five subjects—Korean, English, Math, Social Studies, and Science—reviewed curriculum-based questions and rubrics, then independently graded sample student answers for common prompts. The process highlighted discrepancies in how different teachers interpret standards, aiming to align their judgments.
Following system usage training by the end of this month, these teachers will implement essay-type questions in actual classes to collect student responses by late November. In December, the office plans to conduct formal teacher grading and compare the results with those generated by the AI grading system.
The data collected will be used to improve the quality of the AI grading system and establish support frameworks for schools. Incheon's expansion of essay-based assessments is scheduled to begin with first-year middle school students in 2027, gradually extending to third-year high school students by 2032.
