South Korean semiconductor equipment maker Hanmi Semiconductor announced that it has officially established a US subsidiary named 'Hanmi USA' in San Jose, California, holding an opening ceremony on October 16 local time. Chairman Kwak Dong-shin and other executives attended the event.
According to ZDNet Korea, Hanmi Semiconductor plans to use 'Hanmi USA' as an integrated operational hub to provide technical support to US-based semiconductor companies and big tech clients. The company will deploy skilled engineers locally in alignment with the commissioning schedules of new US factories. This marks the company's fourth overseas subsidiary, following those in Taiwan, China, and Singapore.
The expansion comes amid growing investment in US semiconductor manufacturing. Companies such as Intel, Micron, SK Hynix, and Amkor Technology are building or expanding wafer fabs and packaging facilities in Arizona, Idaho, New York, and Indiana. Hanmi Semiconductor stated that it holds the top global market share in TC Bonders for HBM production and Micro Saw & Vision Placement (MSVP) equipment.
