According to a report by South Korean tech media outlet ZDNet Korea, South Korean robot manufacturer Doosan Robotics is considering expanding the application of vision artificial intelligence (AI) and no-code technologies from its specialized physical AI product, 'Scan&Go', to its existing collaborative robot (cobot) product lines.
An unnamed industry source told the media that Doosan Robotics may apply the AI technology showcased in 'Scan&Go' at CES earlier this year to its standard cobot lineup, noting close collaboration with an overseas physical AI firm for this purpose. 'Scan&Go' combines autonomous mobile robots (AMR), vision AI, and no-code technology to automate surface processing of large structures like aircraft fuselages and wind turbine blades without pre-existing drawings.
Doosan Robotics has reported operating losses since its initial public offering (IPO) in 2023. Analysis suggests that transplanting 'Scan&Go's capabilities to general cobots, thereby increasing automation in logistics and grinding processes, could help the company achieve performance improvement and revenue growth. A Doosan Robotics representative declined to confirm these reports.
