South Korean human-AI interface startup Cleon announced a partnership with Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) to pilot an 'AI station master' service at Seoul Station. The system utilizes Samsung Electronics' 'Spatial Signage,' a glasses-free 3D display technology, allowing passengers to interact with a virtual avatar in real time without wearing any devices.
According to Cleon, the service integrates its proprietary conversational AI technology, which understands user context and synchronizes non-verbal cues such as facial expressions, gaze, and gestures. Combined with Samsung's 3D hardware, the setup aims to create an immersive experience resembling face-to-face communication with a human staff member, providing travel information to domestic and international passengers.
To address the high-noise environment of train stations, Cleon improved its noise-canceling pipeline for stable voice recognition and incorporated image-based automated video generation. Beyond the Seoul Station pilot, Cleon plans to expand this solution to hospitality and retail sectors, such as 'AI concierges' in hotels and 'AI promoters' in stores, while preparing to deploy interactive AI content globally through Samsung's cloud-based digital signage platform, Samsung VXT Apps.
