San Francisco-based AI startup Mistlabs announced on October 12, 2026, that it has closed a $26 million Pre-A funding round co-led by Luminous Ventures and Huaqin Technology. The capital will support the official launch of its ambient intelligence system, Ambi, and fund the development of a standalone AI wearable device.
Ambi is designed as a proactive assistant that acts "before the user even thinks to ask." Unlike traditional task-oriented AI, it continuously builds contextual memory by listening to conversations across iPhone, Apple Watch, and Mac, syncing this understanding seamlessly between devices. CEO Peter Mo stated that the platform's core value lies in real-time understanding, reasoning, and action, such as automatically fact-checking and drafting proposals during ongoing meetings.
A notable aspect of this financing is the industrial background of co-lead investor Huaqin Technology. As a Shanghai-headquartered global leader in smart device manufacturing, Huaqin's involvement suggests a strategic pivot for Mistlabs from pure software to a "software-plus-hardware" model. Although the announcement did not disclose specific production agreements or valuation details, the funds are explicitly directed toward developing dedicated wearable hardware intended to capture richer environmental context, with a release expected later this year or early next year.
Ambi is currently available on Apple devices supporting iOS 18 and Macs, with audio storage disabled by default for privacy. Its proposed "Agent-to-Agent" communication feature—where AI agents representing different users negotiate in real-time during meetings—remains an early-stage capability yet to be widely validated in practical scenarios.
