According to Tech.eu, US software giant Intuit has acquired UK fintech startup Sequence in a deal estimated to be worth around $200 million. The report cites The Times, and the transaction details have not yet been confirmed by official announcements from either party.
Founded in 2021, Sequence uses AI to automate business billing, payments, and revenue management. Headquartered in London and New York, its customers include startups such as Legora and Cognition.
The company was co-founded by Riya Grover and Eamon Jubbawy. Grover previously worked at Deutsche Bank and was CEO and co-founder of Feedr, a food tech startup acquired by Compass in 2020 for $24 million. Jubbawy co-founded Onfido, an ID software provider sold for $650 million in 2024, and is also the founder and CEO of climate startup Isometric.
Reports indicate that Grover holds more than a 45 percent stake in Sequence, while Jubbawy holds more than 15 percent. The startup had raised approximately $33 million in total funding, backed by investors including Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Passion Capital, firstminute capital, and 645 Ventures.
This acquisition is reported to be one of the largest exits by a UK AI startup with a female co-founder. Grover described the deal as a "huge milestone," noting that being part of Intuit allows Sequence to operate at a larger scale.
