Bloomberg announced on October 15, 2026, that ASKB, the conversational AI interface within the Bloomberg Terminal, is now generally available to financial professionals. The update expands the tool's capabilities beyond public market data, allowing users to integrate their own private context—such as Instant Bloomberg (IB) chats, custom worksheets, and uploaded files—into AI queries.
According to the company's press release, ASKB can now draw on three months of a client's IB chat history, enabling analysts to ask questions like "what did my contacts say about oil today" and receive answers cited back to specific chat messages. The system also supports querying securities lists in Worksheets and searching through files stored in Bloomberg Drive, such as internal research notes and earnings recaps.
Wayne Barlow, Global Head of Core Terminal Products at Bloomberg, stated that the goal is to combine an investor's unique professional context with Bloomberg's market intelligence in a single conversation. Shawn Edwards, Chief Technology Officer, emphasized that the feature is built on Bloomberg's proprietary data and infrastructure, aiming to provide trustworthy answers with transparent attribution to source documents.
