Canadian AI company Cohere announced on October 15, 2026, that it has signed a letter of intent to acquire AISLE, an AI security startup. The move aims to integrate AISLE's autonomous vulnerability discovery and remediation capabilities into Cohere's sovereign AI platform, addressing the increasingly complex cybersecurity challenges faced by enterprises and governments deploying AI systems.
Founded in 2025, AISLE specializes in using AI systems to discover and validate previously unknown vulnerabilities in critical software. According to Cohere, AISLE discovered over 500 CVE-assigned zero-day vulnerabilities across more than 100 codebases in its first year, including all 12 vulnerabilities in OpenSSL's January security release and 18 of the 24 CVEs in curl's latest release. These findings were independently reviewed by relevant software maintainers, demonstrating the efficacy of autonomous AI security systems.
This acquisition follows Cohere's previous moves in Europe, including acquisitions of Reliant AI and Aleph Alpha. Cohere stated that combining AISLE's autonomous security research with its frontier model development could build more capable cybersecurity systems while using difficult, verifiable security problems to evaluate and improve future AI models. The transaction is currently at the letter of intent stage and has not been finalized.
