Design platform Figma announced "Specs," a new Markdown-based editor, during its first Config event in India. According to TechCrunch, the feature allows users to define their company's design language and guidelines in a structured format. These Specs serve as a centralized reference for both human teams and AI agents, aiming to steer the non-deterministic nature of generative AI toward more predictable outcomes by ensuring adherence to brand rules.
In addition to Specs, Figma released Code Layers into open beta, enabling coding directly on the canvas alongside designs. The company also integrated Payload, a headless CMS acquired last year, into its Figma Make product to facilitate the creation of data-backed websites. These updates reflect Figma's strategy to provide better context management tools for AI-driven design workflows.
