According to a post by Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman on X on October 15, Apple plans to launch Apple Intelligence in mainland China for the first time in December through an iOS 27.3 update. This marks the debut of the AI platform in the Chinese market.
The initial wave of features will include Genmoji custom emojis, notification summaries, writing tools, and the Clean Up function in the Photos app, which allows users to remove specific objects from images. However, the new Siri AI assistant, Image Playground generation tools, and newer versions of Genmoji are not included in this first release.
The Chinese version of Apple Intelligence will integrate AI models from Alibaba, specifically Qwen and Tongyi Wanxiang. Apple received regulatory approval in China on September 29, allowing recent iPhones to support Apple Intelligence and these integrated models.
