NVIDIA has officially announced that the 3D-guided neural rendering model for DLSS 5 will receive a major update on October 16. The company states that the new version's runtime performance is doubled compared to the initial September release, while reducing VRAM usage by 20% in 4K gaming scenarios without compromising image fidelity.
The update reduces the model size by 24%, bringing parameter count down to approximately 118 million. This new model will first be applied in 'NBA 2K27', supporting GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs, RTX Spark laptops, and the GeForce NOW cloud platform. NVIDIA claims that in this game, the new model can increase frame rates by up to 1.4 times.
Additionally, NVIDIA confirmed that DLSS 5 will arrive in 'Hogwarts Legacy' on November 5, and plans to add the new model and frame generation performance mode to RTX Remix on October 23. These improvements stem from optimizations in the rendering pipeline and the neural model itself, rather than removing existing DLSS 5 features.
