VRChat updated its creator guidelines on October 7, explicitly prohibiting the use of AI-generated map or character thumbnails that mislead users about the actual content.
The platform noted that while AI improves efficiency, it has lowered the barrier for mass-producing low-quality content, potentially burying high-quality works. Misleading thumbnails were identified as a specific abuse vector.
Regarding the requested "AI label" disclosure, VRChat stated that its internal team has not reached a consensus. Consequently, the company remains open to introducing such a system but has not committed to implementation. The platform also plans to add user feedback mechanisms to improve content curation.
