Meituan recently signed the "2026 Labor Rules and Algorithm Negotiation Agreement," explicitly stating it will increase billing weights for orders that are overweight, bulky, or require walking up/down stairs.
The agreement also mandates continuing the removal of overtime penalties and gradually expanding the "red light pause" pilot. Meituan launched this feature in July, expecting to cover over one million riders by year-end, aiming to address delivery delays caused by traffic rule compliance.
Additionally, the agreement covers increased income compensation during special weather conditions and promotes pension insurance subsidies. Relevant central government departments attended to guide the process, and all parties will follow up on implementation.
