Meta announced on October 7 that it is donating 1,000 Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to four community organizations in Singapore to help persons with disabilities gain greater independence in daily life.
The recipients include the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH), Guide Dogs Singapore, the Singapore Disability Sports Council, and Gardens by the Bay. Meta also provided a US$30,000 grant to support accessibility training, focusing on skills such as object identification, text reading, and voice command usage.
The announcement was made by Joel Kaplan, Chief Global Affairs Officer at Meta, during an accessibility showcase co-hosted with local partners. This initiative represents a targeted deployment of consumer AI hardware for assistive purposes in a specific regional market.
