Hackers claim data on all FBI employees, say they won't publish it
A 5,000-record sample is reporter-verified; the full scale rests on the hackers' own claim, and not publishing does not end the risk.
The hacking group ShinyHunters says it breached FBI-related services and holds data on all FBI employees and applicants. 404 Media verified a sample of 5,000 alleged agents, including names, home addresses, phone numbers and details on spouses.
The group told 404 Media on September 22, "We hacked the FBI," and said on September 28 that it had decided from the start never to publish the data. Follow-up reporting says the trove also includes job roles and medical records.
The "all employees" scale claim comes from the hackers themselves; the reporter verified only the sample. Criminals in the same ecosystem have previously used leaked data to track and harass the agents investigating them, so withholding publication does not end the risk.
