An Accenture survey found 10% of Hong Kong firms have integrated generative AI across multiple business functions, against about 21% of mainland enterprises.
The figures come from Robert Hah, head of Accenture Greater China's Hong Kong office, in an interview with the South China Morning Post on 29 September. The survey was run by Accenture itself, and the sample size was not disclosed.
Hah attributed the gap to legacy-system burdens and a risk-averse corporate mindset in Hong Kong, while mainland adoption has been fuelled by falling model costs and a domestic developer ecosystem led by firms such as DeepSeek and Alibaba. The numbers are the consultancy's own survey findings; its full methodology is not yet available.
