Baidu's agent now runs some tasks locally on Intel PCs

Baidu Dazi, Baidu's consumer AI agent, has launched a local Skill zone for Intel machines, letting speech recognition, image generation, and document and image parsing run directly on the PC.

According to Leiphone, the capability was announced at the 2026 Intel Connection conference and works on Intel Core Ultra AI PCs. The system automatically routes each task between local processing and the cloud; web search and complex analysis still go to the cloud.

Previously such tasks typically required uploading files to the cloud, or users installing and configuring models themselves. Baidu and Intel say they will extend support to more PCs and workstations and add local skills such as long-document handling and code development; the actual quality of local processing remains to be seen in use.
