Qualcomm plans Debian and Ubuntu support for Snapdragon X2 in 2026
Linux support is announced, not shipped: no SteamOS or Red Hat, X2 only, and power management remains unproven. Watch actual availability.

At the Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm announced it will support Debian and Ubuntu on the current-generation Snapdragon X2, with both planned for 2026 and Canonical expressing support at the event.
This is the platform's first formal step toward Linux. Snapdragon previously worked with Microsoft on Windows only, while much AI and embedded development happens on Linux. Qualcomm says it will focus on systemd-boot, I/O such as USB and PCIe, and FastRPC driver upstreaming for its Hexagon NPU.
The limits are explicit: no SteamOS has been announced, the Red Hat ecosystem is not part of the 2026 initial push, and the X1 platform is excluded. Power management is still work in progress, and power efficiency is central to Snapdragon's value proposition. This is a vendor announcement of planned support, not a shipped capability.
