Qualcomm announced two flagship smartphone processors at its Snapdragon Summit on September 22: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
The company says the Extreme version can run a 30-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model locally, above the 20B model Apple released in June. A new sensing hub runs small models of up to 200 million parameters, supporting local voice agents and speaker differentiation.
The local-run figure is Qualcomm's claim from a launch event, with no third-party testing yet. Motorola has announced a phone using the Extreme chip arriving this year; real performance depends on shipping devices.
