Trump pledges an AI Force in words, with no details attached
The rejection of an AI slowdown is explicit, but with no nominee or mandate, watch for an actual appointment.

On Truth Social, Trump said he will establish an "AI Force" and appoint a new AI czar, but named no one, described no duties and gave no timeline.
He called fears of AI taking over a "hoax," said he will not "in any way hinder or stifle" the industry's growth, and argued that slowing down would hand Chinese developers an unassailable lead.
The previous AI czar, David Sacks, left the post in March when his special-employee term limit ran out and still advises Trump as chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. The White House hosts a senior-level AI gathering on Wednesday, and AI safety is on the agenda for Trump's talks with Xi Jinping. Whether the pledge becomes anything depends on an actual appointment with a defined mandate.
