Samsung is building a Gwangju plant for AI data center liquid-cooling equipment, but capacity lands only in early 2028 — a supply-chain tracking point.

Samsung Electronics broke ground on September 21 on a FlaktGroup HVAC plant in Gwangju, investing about 240 billion won ($179 million) in a 21,800-square-meter production line scheduled for full-scale operations in early 2028.
The plant will produce coolant distribution units, fan wall units and computer-room air handlers, targeting AI data centers, semiconductor and battery plants. It will be FlaktGroup's 15th global production site, serving South Korea and East Asia.
This is a groundbreaking, not capacity: production is more than a year away, and the AI cooling supply picture can still shift. Samsung acquired Germany's FlaktGroup last year and is expanding from residential air conditioners into industrial cooling.
