Black Forest Labs Releases Open-Weights Image Model FLUX 3 Image Klein, Runs on Consumer GPUs with Just 8 GB of VRAM
Black Forest Labs has released FLUX 3 Image Klein, a 5.6-billion-parameter open-weights image model supporting native 4K generation and multi-reference editing. Its INT8 build requires only 8GB of VRAM, enabling local execution on consumer GPUs like the RTX 4070, with the company claiming superior performance over previous versions and some closed competitors in internal tests.

Black Forest Labs released FLUX 3 Image Klein on October 15, a 5.6-billion-parameter open-weights text-to-image generation model. The model supports native 4K output, pixel-accurate editing, and generation with up to ten reference images.
According to the company, FLUX 3 Image Klein scores the highest Elo ratings among all open models in internal testing, surpassing Ideogram V4.5 and even BFL's own FLUX.2 [pro]. Compared to the predecessor FLUX.2 [klein], the new model has 38 percent fewer parameters but gains 91 Elo points.
With an INT8 build, the model can run on NVIDIA GPUs with just 8 GB of VRAM, generating an image in under 9 seconds on an RTX 4070. This feature significantly lowers the hardware barrier for high-quality AI image generation, making it feasible on mainstream consumer devices.
The weights are available under the FLUX Kommunity License, free for commercial use by companies making under $5 million annually. Developers can access the model via Hugging Face Spaces, ComfyUI, and Diffusers, or use the BFL API ($0.009 per 1,000 images) and Playground. LoRA training is supported from day one through Ostris AI Toolkit and NVIDIA NeMo AutoModel.
