Qualcomm issued a supplemental statement on October 6 explicitly denying that its newly announced patent licensing agreement with Huawei includes rights to Huawei's "LogicFolding" chipmaking technology.
This correction follows Bloomberg Law reports stating that Qualcomm had agreed to license patents underpinning the LogicFolding technique. Qualcomm clarified that such claims are untrue and also corrected inaccurate reports suggesting Qualcomm is the net payer in the deal.
The two companies announced a broad, multi-year cross-licensing agreement on October 5 covering 5G, computing, AI, and networking. While terms remain confidential, Qualcomm emphasized the deal involves acquiring certain non-cellular US patents from Huawei and reciprocal licensing, without confirming the specific advanced manufacturing technology authorizations speculated by media.
